The Kishwaukee College women's basketball team ran out to a 10 point halftime lead against the Chiefs of Waubonsee Community College and held on to win by the same margin, 71-61. The Kougars jumped out to an 11 point lead at 15-4, only to see a Chief run tie the game at 17-17 each. The rest of the half was back and forth until the Kougars went on a 12-2 run to take the 10 point halftime lead.
The second half was more of the same with the Kougars forcing Waubonsee into 27 turnovers for the game and out-rebounding the Chiefs by a 62-52 margin. The Kougars stretched the lead to 18 points on one occasion, but the Chiefs cut the lead to 5 points with 11:00 left in the game. Waubonsee could get no closer as the Kougars settled in for the win.
Kishwaukee had three players in double figures with Quixmia Washington (Larkin HS) leading the way with 16 points, 7 assists and 7 steals, followed by Shamiah Oliver (Curie HS) with 15 points and 5 steals and Jayria Hicks (North Lawndale College Prep HS) with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Tiara Roberts (Marshall HS) and Briana McWaine (Oswego East HS) also reached double figures in rebounding with 10 each.
With the win the Kougars move to 6-4 on the season.
