The Kishwaukee Kougars took to the road to face the defending NJCAA National Champion Rock Valley College and came away with a 49-37 defeat. The Kougars battled for the entire game but could not overcome a poor shooting night. The end of the first quarter saw Kishwaukee trail 5-2 and 27-12 at the half.
The third period saw the Kougars battle back and out-score Rock Valley 14-9, to trail 36-26. The run wasn't something that the Kougars could sustain and ultimately fell by the final margin of 12 points.
The Kougars were hurt by poor shooting on the night and just managed 24% shooting from the free throw line. Kishwaukee was led by Shamiah Oliver (Curie High School) with 20 points and 6 steals. Oliver was the only Kougar in double figure scoring followed by Tiara Roberts (John Marshall High School) with 9 points. Cassandra Burress (Rich Central High School) led Kishwaukee with 8 rebounds.
The Kougars look to get on the winning track this Saturday, Nov. 14th, as they travel to Wright College. Tip-off is at 1:00.
