Hot Bats Pace Kougars

 

Kishwaukee College baseball used outstanding hitting and solid pitching to get a two game home sweep of Carl Sandburg College. The Kougars won the first game 4-3 and ran away in the second, 13-1.

Game 1 saw the score tied at three, going into the bottom of the 6th inning, only to witness Kishwaukee score a run to take the lead 4-3. Renny Tolentino and the Kougars held Carl Sandburg scoreless in the top of the 7th to end the game.

            Tolentino went the distance in the win, giving up five hits and only one earned run in seven innings, to get his third victory, while striking out six batters.

            Cooper Vinz led the Kougars at the dish going 2-3 and scoring a run. Jared Johnson had a double and an RBI, with Jeremy McCarty and David Salguiero also drove in runs.

            In the second game of the double-header, Kishwaukee came out firing, with two runs in the 1st inning, three in the 2nd, two in the 3rd,  and six in the 4th, to take a 13-0 lead.

            David Salguiero led the Kougars with three hits and three RBI, while Jared Johnson, Jermar Walton, Matt Albert, Jeremy McCarty and Brett Dowling all had two hits apiece. Dowling had two doubles and two RBI.

            Donny Perdue pitched four scoreless inning, allowing two hits and no runs to move to 5-1 on the season. With the sweep, the Kougars move to 29-18 on the season.
