Kishwaukee College men's basketball player and DeKalb High School alum Andre Harris has been named 1st Team NABC All-American. The NABC stands for the National Association of Basketball Coaches and awards only (10) players in each level of collegiate basketball with the distinction of All-American annually. Harris, a Metro State University signee, is the 1st of Kishwaukee Coach Rob Buss' five former NJCAA All-Americans to also win the NABC All-American award.
"Andre made tremendous strides during his two seasons, developing from a walk-on talent to an All-American. He is a tireless worker, always ready to learn, listen and make himself and his teammates better. Andre set the tone for the season's team and individual accomplishments with his leadership and work ethic", said Kishwaukee men's basketball head coach Rob Buss.
Harris started all 36 games this past season while playing in 52 total games in his Kishwaukee career. He averaged 14ppg, 10.8rpg, and 3.6bpg on his way to being awarded 1st Team All-Arrowhead Conference, Arrowhead Conference MVP, 1st Team All-Region IV, Region IV All-Tournament Team, and 1st Team NJCAA All-American. Andre helped Kishwaukee wins its first Arrowhead Conference Championship since 1997 and Kishwaukee's third Region IV Championship in school history while guiding the Kougar's to an "Elite-Eight" appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament. Andre completes his career with totals of 750 points, 428 rebounds, and 148 blocked shots in his two seasons for the Kougars. Andre ranks 5th all-time in single season rebounds with (387) rebounds during the 2014-15 season.
