Kishwaukee Men Earn National and Regional Recognition

 

 

Congratulations to sophomore forward Andre Harris (Dekalb HS) who was awarded 1st Team All-Arrowhead Conference & Arrowhead Conference MVP along with also being named 1st Team All-Region IV, 1st Team All-Region Tournament & 1st Team NJCAA All-American for the 2014-2015 season. Andre is the 5th NJCAA All-American during Coach Rob Buss' tenure at Kishwaukee. Andre received the most votes from the other six Arrowhead Conference head coaches to be awarded conference MVP. Andre averaged 15.6ppg (ranked 4th), 14.3rpg (ranked 1st), and 5.4bpg (ranked 1st) in conference play. Andre's stats during the regular season were just as solid in averaging 13.9ppg, 10.8rpg, and 3.6bpg while shooting 52.8% from the floor and 67% from the FT line. The DeKalb native also recorded a "Triple-Double" on the road at Carl Sandburg with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 blocks. Andre ranks 5th all-time on the Kishwaukee single season rebounding list with (387) this year.

Congratulations also goes to 6' 4"sophomore shooting guard Juwan Starks(West Aurora HS) who also was named to the 1st Team All-Arrowhead Conference, 1st Team All-Region IV, 1st Team All-Region IV Tournament, Region IV Tournament MVP and All-NJCAA National Tournament. Juwan was the Kougar's 2nd leading scorer in conference play scoring 16.1ppg (ranked 3rd). Juwan also shot (53%) from 3pt range which was the best mark in the Arrowhead Conference. Juwan like Andre had a strong regular season leading the Kougar's in scoring with 18.4ppg while shooting 47.3% from the floor, a team best 51.7% from 3pt range, and 71.1% from the FT line. Juwan had an unbelievable post-season run that started with him averaging 26.4ppg while shooting 60% (12-20) from 3pt range during the 3-game Region IV Tournament. This included Juwan's 36-point semi-final game against Morton College where he was (12-16) from the floor, (7-9) from 3pt, and (5-6) from the FT line. Juwan stayed hot as the Kougar's played in the NJCAA National Tournament and Juwan averaged 27.4ppg while shooting 47% (16-34) from 3pt range during Kishwaukee's three games (30pts vs. Lansing (MI) / 21pts vs. #2 Des Moines (IA) / 31pts vs. #1 Schoolcraft (MI).

Finally congratulations goes to 6' 0" freshman point guard Yashua Trent(Willowbrook HS) who was awarded 2nd Team All-Arrowhead Conference. Yashua was Kishwaukee's leading scorer in Arrowhead Conference play with 17.7ppg (ranked 2nd) while also leading the conference in assists at 9.25apg. Yashua lead the country in steals & broke the Kishwaukee College single season steals mark with 142 steals this season. He was also 2nd in the NJCAA in assists with 352 which also broke the Kishwaukee single season mark. On the season Yashua averaged 15.5ppg, 6.53rpg, 9.78apg, and 3.95spg. Yashua recorded (2) "Triple-Doubles" this year. The first was at Carl Sandburg where he had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. The second came in Kishwaukee's Region IV Championship win over #4 nationally ranked Triton College with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists
