April 26, 2025-The Kishwaukee College softball team hosted McHenry County College on Saturday. Kish also celebrated Sophomore Day by sweeping the Scots 10-0 and 10-1. In game one, Ana-Kate Phillips collected three hits in three at bats, as Phillips tripled in the third inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning. Kish won thanks in part to 10 runs in the third inning. Bella Koertner singled, scoring one run, Phillips doubled, scoring one run, Kailey Goetz singled, scoring one run, Alyssa Wilkerson singled, scoring one run, Abby Stoffa singled, scoring one run, Laila Anderson singled, scoring two runs, and Phillips tripled, scoring three runs. Wilkerson earned the win as the hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking none. Laila Anderson had 2 RBI, Kailey Goetz RBI. Haley Von Schnase prduced 2 hits as Bella Koertner scored 2 runs, plus Kyra Johnson, Crystal Haack, Tyra Smith and Abby Stoffa each scored a run. The Kougs accumulated 13 hits in the game.
In game two, Kishwaukee started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning after Kailey Goetz doubled to center field, and Kyra Johnson grounded out, each scoring one run. Kish extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Ana-Kate Phillips and Kyra Johnson. Three more Kougars runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 9-0. Bella Koertner tripled, scoring one run, and Phillips homered to center field, scoring two runs. Johnson earned the win as she gave up just three hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking none.Kaylee Johnson appeared in relief for the Kougs. Kishwaukee Kougars accumulated 15 hits in the game. Lillie Gebel, Laila Anderson, Goetz, and Haley Von Schnase each collected multiple hits for Kish. Kishwaukee (35-21 overall, 14-6 Arrowhead Conference-2nd Place) will await seeding to see where and who they play in the NJCAA Region 4, DII softball postseason that starts on May 3.
