Softball takes a pair over Harper College

April 19, 2025-After splitting a doubleheader on Friday at Lake County, the Kishwaukee College softball team travelled to Palatine to play a doubleheader against Harper College Saturday. The Kougars would prevail 14-0 in game one as Laila Anderson drove in four runs on three hits. Anderson hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the sixth inning, scoring one.  Kish had added two runs in the top of the fourth inning on one hit. Bella Koertner hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Reilee Suter hit a solo home run to left field.  Seven more runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 14-0. Kyra Johnson tripled, scoring one run, Crystal Haack singled, scoring one run, Anderson doubled, scoring one run, Koertner singled, scoring one run, and Phillips homered to center field, scoring three runs.  Alyssa Wilkerson earned the win for Kishwaukee as she allowed one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out five and walking three.  Kish collected 13 hits in the game. Johnson, Koertner, and Anderson each collected three hits while offensively as a team, the Kougs amassing seven walks for the game and stole five bases in the game as a team.

In game two,  Reilee Suter collected three hits in four at bats, as Kishwaukee the Owls 11-3. Suter hit a solo home run to center field in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.  The Kougars scored six runs in the first inning on the way to victory.  Ana-Kate Phillips doubled, scoring one run, Kailey Goetz singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Lilli Delhotal singled, scoring one run, and Lillie Gebel singled, scoring two runs.  Kish extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Suter and Kyra Johnson. Johnson got the victory in the circle as she surrendered just four hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Sammy Pracko took the loss for Harper College Hawks 2025. The hurler went three innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, striking out none and walking three. Kaylee Johnson appeared in relief for the Kougars.  Kishwaukee tallied 17 hits in the game. Ky. Johnson led the Kougs with three runs batted in and went 2-for-4 on the day. Haley Von Schnase and Suter each collected three hits as Gebel, Delhotal, Phillips, and Goetz each collected multiple hits.

Kishwaukee (28-18 overall, 12-6 Arrowhead Conference) will  host Bryant and Stratton on Monday then travel to wrap up Arrowhead Conference play on Tuesday at Highland CC.
