April 15, 2025 - After coming off a four game win streak over the weekend in the Illinois Valley CC Eagles tournament where Kish beat Elgin CC, McHenry County College, Morton College and Oakton CC, the Kougars took two more games versus Arrowhead Conference rival Saul Valley CC Tuesday at home. Ana-Kate Phillips drove in five runs on three hits to lead Kish 15-1 in game one. Phillips doubled in the second scoring two, singled in the third scoring two, and doubled in the fourth scoring one. Alyssa Wilkerson struck out 10 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also surrendered two hits and one run over five innings while walking none. The Kougs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kailey Goetz doubled down the left field line, and Crystal Haack singled to left field, each scoring two runs. Kishwaukee added two runs in the second after Phillips doubled to right field. The Kougars scored seven more runs on seven hits in the bottom of the third inning. Laila Anderson singled, scoring one run, Bella Koertner singled, scoring one run, Phillips singled, scoring two runs, Goetz singled, scoring two runs, and Haley Von Schnase grounded out, scoring one run. Kish amassed 15 hits in the game. Haack, Phillips, and Goetz each collected three hits while Koertner collected two hits in three at bats.
In game two, Bella Koertner collected three hits in four at bats, as Kishwaukee defeated the Skyhawks 14-0. Koertner hit an inside the park home run in the fourth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the first inning. Kishwaukee scored nine runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Koertner singled, scoring two runs, Kailey Goetz homered to center field, scoring three runs, Lilli Delhotal grounded out, scoring one run, Tyra Smith doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Kish got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Reilee Suter singled to left field, Ana-Kate Phillips singled to center field, and Haley Von Schnase doubled to left field, each scoring one run. Two more Kougars runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 14-0. Kyra Johnson earned the win as she surrendered four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one. The Kougs piled up 13 hits in the game. Koertner and Phillips each collecting three hits. Von Schnase and Smith each collected multiple hits as Koertner and Phillips also each stole multiple bases.
Kishwaukee will travel to play Highland Community College on Thursday weather permitting.
