April 10, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team travelled to Galesburg Thursday for an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader vs Carl Sandburg College. After the dat was over, the Kougars swept the Chargers in the DH 11-2 and 7-2 to also sweep the season home and away four game series. In game one, Ana-Kate Phillips drove in five runs on four hits to lead Kish. Kishwaukee got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bella Koertner scored after tagging up, and Kyra Johnson singled to left field, each scoring one run. They extended their early lead with two more runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI doubles by Kailey Goetz and Johnson. Then in the sixth, Phillips hit a grand slam to right field, scoring four runs while the offensive attack plated two more runs that inning on the way to the victory with Haley Von Schnase singled, scoring one run, and Crystal Haack with an RBI ground out. Alyssa Wilkerson earned the win for the Kougars allowing six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out two and walking two. Kish piled up 13 hits in the game as Johnson, Koertner, and Goetz each collected multiple. The Kougars arrived to run the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Kishwaukee Kougars turned one double play in the game.
In game two, Phillips added three more hits in four at bats, as Kish defeated Sandburg 7-2. Phillips tripled in the third inning, tripled in the seventh inning, and doubled in the first inning. Kyra Johnson earned the win in the circle allowing three hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking five. Kish accumulated 12 hits in the game. Phillips and Haley Von Schnase each collected three hits for the Kougars.
Kishwaukee (19-15 overall, 10-6 Arrowhead Conference) continue their road stretch of the schedule Friday at Triton before playing in the Illinois Valley CC mid-season tourney against Elgin CC, Mchenry County College on Saturday and then Oakton and Morton on Sunday to wrap up the weekend event.
