Brockway Earns Top-8 Finish in NJCAAE D3 Apex Legends Tournament

November 15, 2025 - Kishwaukee College Esports student-athlete Matthew Brockway capped off an impressive postseason run with a Top-8 finish in the NJCAAE Division III Apex Legends Tournament, showcasing grit, growth, and major potential for the upcoming spring season.

Entering the postseason as the 10th seed, Brockway opened his playoff journey with a statement win over a higher-ranked opponent from Ranger College. In a nail-biting match that went the full distance, Brockway secured a 3–2 victory, displaying strong mechanics, disciplined rotations, and clutch late-round performances that pushed him into the national quarterfinals.

In the next round, Brockway faced Murray State College, a consistent top contender throughout the year. Despite Brockway's strong game sense and positioning, the match proved challenging as he struggled to locate opponents early, while Murray State capitalized on encounters to steadily build an elimination lead. The final result—a 3–1 Murray State win—ended Brockway's postseason push, but not before he made an undeniable impact on the bracket. Murray State will move on to compete for this week's NJCAAE D3 Championship.

Kishwaukee Esports Head Coach Bryan McMahan praised Brockway's growth and determination throughout the season, noting the leap he's made since last year.

"Matthew played great, much improved from last year, and has great potential for the Spring season," Coach McMahan said.

Brockway's Quarterfinal appearance officially places him among the Top 8 Apex Legends competitors in all of NJCAAE Division III, marking a standout moment for both his individual career and the Kishwaukee Esports program.

With momentum behind him and a strong postseason run under his belt, Brockway now looks ahead to the spring split—ready to build, compete, and climb even higher.
