BSE pushes McHenry to extra innings but lose in the tenth

March 26, 2026 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team hosted McHenry County College Thursday in Malta.  Battling the wind and the rain, both teams would go back and forth throughout the game and wind up tied at 7-7 after the seventh inning.  It would take three more innings to decide the game as MCC would eventually prevail in the tenth inning 13-8. Kish got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jakob DeLeo singled, and Jonathan Hartline grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. McHenry took the lead, 6-5, in the top of the sixth when an error scored two runs. Hartline had an RBI ground out to tie the game at six in the bottom of the sixth. MCC took back the lead in the top of the seventh 7-6.  However, there was more fight left in the Kougars in the bottom of the seventh as DeLeo singled to right field to again tie the game at seven sending the game to extra innings.

McHenry flipped the game on its head in the top of the eleventh, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 13-7. Kish was only able to muster one run in the bottom of tenth to make the final 13-8. Patrick Jasinski began the game for the Kougs surrendering just four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking four. DeLeo led the Kougars with three hits in five at bats. Hartline and DeLeo each drove in two runs and Sean Wasserman had three walks and stole two bases.  Nathan Kolder, Seth Nielson, Jack Okun and Nico Mainolfi each added hits for the Kougs as Nick Price and Tyler Schmidt had runs scored. Kish had to break out the tarp and postpone game two due to rain and storms that swept in immediately after.

Kishwaukee will look to host Madison College on Friday with a new scheduled time of 2:00 pm (weather permitting) ina single nine inning game before hosting Illinois Valley CC on Saturday in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader.
