March 9, 2026 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team opened up their spring trip through Tennessee with a doubleheader versus Volunteer State CC.
Game one saw a big third inning to lead Kish to a 12-1 win in five innings. That was thanks, in part, to eight runs in the third inning. Caleb Barth doubled, scoring three runs, Bodhi Harrison singled, scoring one run, Grant Bruen drew a walk, scoring one run, and Sean Wasserman doubled, scoring three runs. Alex Prince earned the win for the Kougars. The hurler allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking two. Kishwaukee tallied 10 hits in the game as Sawyer Larson, Jakob DeLeo, and Harrison each collected two hits for the Kougars while Wasserman and Barth each drove in three runs.
Game two turned out to be a slugfest. Kishwaukee woudl tie it at 9-9 after their top of the 6th inning but would fall 11-9 to VSCC. The Kougars fought back after falling down by six runs in the second inning. The comeback fell just short though. Kishwaukee closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a double, a single, a solo home run, a single, a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly. Kish also scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Sawyer Larson drew a walk, scoring one run, Bodhi Harrison doubled, scoring three runs, and Nathan Kolder singled, scoring one run. Larson hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fifth for the Kougars.
The Kougars tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a single by Sean Wasserman, a sacrifice bunt by Nick Price, and a sacrifice fly by Jakob DeLeo. John Schulte led things off on the hill for the Kougs. The starter gave up five hits and eight runs (seven earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Jacob Dzado pitched giving up 1 ER and 3 strikouts as did Nicholas Coletta with 0 ER and 1 strikeout. Sean Wasserman, Seth Nielson, Larson, DeLeo, Harrison, and Kolder each collected one hit for Kishwaukee. Harrison went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in.
Next up for the Kish is a doubleheader at Motlow State CC on Tuesday.
