April 22, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College baseball team after sweeping Highland CC at home Saturday, wound up dropping two by scores of 7-2 and 10-7 Tuesday in Freeport. The Kougars fell in game one, despite out-hitting HCC nine to eight. Jonathan Hartline and Aiden Rodriguez each collected two hits for Kish. Kishwaukee opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles with Quade Richards getting an RBI single, scoring one run. Alex Prince started the game for the Kougars surrendering six hits and five runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Rodriguez and Richards each drove in one run for Kish.
The Kougars lost 10-7 in a close game two. Sam Genslinger, Alec Rosa, Quade Richards, Jacob Mersman and Sawyer Larson took to the mound by committee to keep Kish close througout. Jackson Young tripled and doubled in the game while Hartline, Lenox Estremera and Rodriguez all had RBIs. Overall on the day offensively, Hartline had 4 hits and 2 RBI, Young 4 hits and 2 RBI plus Rodriguez 2 hits and 2 RBI on the day. Estremera added 2 runs and an RBI as Larson tallied 2 runs for the day.
Kishwaukee (11-30 overall, 8-12 Arrowhead Conference) made strides in conference this past season finishing with one of its best records in the past nine years. The Kougars witll travel to play Bryant and Stratton (WI) College on Thursday then host Morton College Friday and Kennedy-King College in Malta on Saturday (weather permitting).
